Red betel, Piper ornatum is a plant from the Piperaceae family that is easy to grow in tropical and subtropical climates. The leaves are widely used as a medicinal plant. Unlike green betel (Piper betle L) which is more commonly sold in markets as a spice or medicine supplement, red betel is widely planted because of its beautiful leaf patterns as a garden decoration.
