SBA AWARD: Exhibiting Excellence for Contemporary Botanical Art. The flower is named the "maiden skirt" because it resembles the colorful skirt worn by young ladies. The leaves are full of signs of hard work coming out of the ground and blooming in the harsh cold of early spring. Called the "Korean swamppink" in English, the flower is small and fragile, but informs us that spring is coming. The scientific name is Heloniopsis Koreana S. Fuse, N. S. Lee, and M. N. Tamura, which is named "koreana," meaning it is from Korea.

The flower, scientifically named ‘Hibiscus syriacus L.’, blooms and goes throughout the rainy season and heat from July to September. Therefore, it is also a symbol of tireless patience. And it is also called rose of Sharon. The flower is a special flower for Koreans because it is the national flower of Korea, which possesses the nationality of patience and perseverance.
